Anything that elicits emotive responses tends to stick with us longer. Especially when we can identify with realistic plots and well-developed characters who help us "feel" the concepts. We also know that, as humans, we often learn most effectively when we can "experience" the concepts in fictional story form. As I like to say, these courses are, in essence, about developing a deeper understanding of ourselves, others, and learning to apply this knowledge in a variety of situations. My main idea was to write fictional vignettes and short-stories to reinforce and potentially expand upon many of the wonderful concepts covered in the courses I had the pleasure of facilitating in Organizational Behavior and Leadership. In other words, only when the urge to write is so persistent that it just won't go away. This time, as a very casual researcher and writer. Recently, however, (and after a very short-lived re-entry into the full-time workforce) I decided that it was high-time for me to again reinvent myself. The interaction with students was amazingly enlightening and enriching, for me at least (I can't speak for my students). ![]() I started teaching as an adjunct professor of management at a couple of universities, and found the experience to be a lot of hard work, but also highly rewarding and satisfying. Actually, it's more appropriate to say that I left the workforce in 2018 and entered the world of semi-retirement. I "retired" on June 1st, 2018 following a 35-year career in technology.
